43rd Sunbeam Alpine Owners Club National Thursday 30th July – Monday 3rd August 2020

The 2020 SAOC National will be held at the Thruxton Racing circuit over the weekend

of 1st – 2nd August 2020. Situated on Andover Down just off the A303 on the

Hampshire/Wiltshire border, Thruxton race circuit was originally constructed in 1942

as RAF Thruxton, a World War II airfield that was home to both RAF and USAAF aircraft

crews. It was used for troop carrying aircraft and gliders, including those involved in

operations during the D-Day Landings. The race circuit itself follows the line of the

original airfield perimeter road and has been used for motor racing since 1968. The

2.4 mile Thruxton circuit is commonly referred to as the “UK’s fastest Circuit on the

racing calendar.”

In June 2018 the Thruxton Hospitality Centre was opened, containing more than 10 conference and function rooms as well as hospitality, bar, catering and exhibition space all within a two-storey building with a 1st fl oor terrace and balcony overlooking the circuit. This will be the Venue for the Saturday evening Dinner and Dance and potential for cooked breakfasts/snacks/bar over the weekend.

For those planning a longer break, this location makes an ideal staging point for the South Coast, New Forest or the Isle of Wight. For those wanting to stay local, Stonehenge (English Heritage) is 15 miles away, Salisbury 16 miles and entrance into the New Forest less than 25 miles. The area is served by a number of National Hotels and Restaurants within the Solstice Retail Park (Amesbury), The Portway Retail Park (Andover) and the Andover Business Park. Local accommodation is available through Pubs and B&B in the local villages and AirBnB’s in the local area. The nearest Motels are the Red Post Hotel and the Parkhouse. For those attending from Mainland Europe,

Portsmouth ferry port is approx. 1 hour away.

Camping is available (motorhome, caravan and tent) with normal camping facilities available. There are also hard standing areas for additional parking, trade stalls and Club activities. The circuit starting grid will make an ideal National photo backdrop and Concours display area with the Pit Lane and garages ideal for a racing Alpine display.
