UPDATE – 16th December 2025
The Sunbeam Rapier, Tiger and Alpine clubs are progressing with the planning for the combined national meeting for 2026, which promises to be a memorable Sunbeam Spectacular.
The event promises to be the biggest gathering of Sunbeams for many years and a chance to enjoy a bumper weekend of events - all in the company of like-minded Sunbeam enthusiasts. We have Alpines, Tigers, Rapiers, Harringtons and a few other notable cars coming so far.
The working group is focused on ensuring that the weekend offers something for everyone with a range of activities to keep you amused and entertained.
So far, all of the initial reservation of 60 rooms has gone, don’t worry we are extending this, but if you want to come along, it’s advisable to get your booking completed ASAP.
The dates are the 14th to the 16th of August 2026 at the Wyboston Lakes Event Centre.
We have sole use of the venue to ensure we can relax and enjoy a weekend filled with Sunbeams (hopefully including the weather). We are also planning some non-car related activities for those that want a break from the petrolheads.
The ‘all-in’ package for the weekend from Friday lunchtime through to Sunday morning which includes all meals, accommodation and use of facilities at the hotel. Meals are a buffet format offering a number of choices for meals from lunch on Friday through to breakfast on Sunday and includes tea and coffee throughout the weekend.
Whilst we are still finalising the events for the weekend, currently they include:
Runs out to Jordans Mill and Wimpole Hall National Trust estate using ‘Tulip maps’ – don’t worry, we will explain how they work
Dinner followed by a quiz and entertainment on Friday evening
A large grass display area offering a great setting for the concours and a brilliant photo opportunity
A low speed driving obstacle race event on the field which should be a lot of fun
A media room running a portfolio of period films and articles on Sunbeams and club events including the new Tiger film, “Le Mans, Shelby and Two Smoking Tigers”.
Buffet Lunch or packed lunch for those taking a leisurely drive
An auction and raffle with some great items
An opportunity to go into Cambridge for those wanting a break from cars.
An opportunity to buy and sell spares from members and key suppliers.
Individual club concours and some overall event prizes
Dinner followed by prize giving, a guest speaker, and a band on Saturday evening
A trip to The Shuttleworth Collection on Sunday
We will continue to work hard to finalise the activities across the weekend, but we are confident we will include entertainment for the evening meals on Friday and Saturday and are looking to organise; runs out, visits to local places of interest, a treasure hunt, and finishing on Sunday at the Shuttleworth collection.
We are also looking at alternatives should the weather be unkind to us, and some non-car activities being organised for those that may want to have a break from the cars.

Addendum to the December Horn Article regarding the Sunbeam Spectacular
The article in the Horn was written months ago with regard to people booking the Sunbeam Spectacular, we had hoped to have the booking form included in the December edition, but things have not quite worked out that way. The information it contains is now very much out of date.
Hopefully you have seen the updates regarding the National at Wyboston Lakes between 14th-16th August. If you have not and wish to have more or any information on how to book, what the hotel package contains and what activities we have planned, please contact Liz & Darren at sunbeamnational@yahoo.com.
We will soon be releasing details for those that do not wish to stay but still attend as a day visitor. Please bear with us on that, we are very keen to get this information out, but in the first instance we have to have the numbers who can commit to stay for the weekend for the purposes of securing the contract with the venue. Without this support the event will not be able to go ahead.
At the moment the deadline for bookings in 18th January 2026.
UPDATE 29/01/2026
Sunbeam Spectacular Bookings and Day Visitors.
We are delighted to announce that 99 bedrooms have been booked for the Sunbeam National 14th-16th August 2026. This ensures without doubt that our event can go ahead. We are even more delighted to inform you that having negotiated with Wyboston Event Centre there are now further limited bedrooms available, and we will continue to take bookings until there are no more rooms! The difference this time will be that payment will be required to your respective club upon booking on a first come first served basis. Act now to avoid disappointment!!
As always bookings for the entire event can be made with the form which you can find online via the webpage, or the email all members have been sent or through the online booking portal: Online Form

Day Visitors:
We promised you details for those that wished to attend as day visitors. The price for a day visitor will be £15 per car per day if prebooked, and £20 per car per day if you decide to attend on the day. This will include entry to the event and the opportunity to include yourselves in as many or all of the planned daytime activities and evening entertainment (excluding dinner).
It is not possible to offer day visitors lunch. There is a café/restaurant at the Drift Inn called the Gravel Pit, or there is a Toby Carvery both are a short walk from the venue, or alternatively there are shops such as Tesco nearby.
Dinner:
If you wish to join us on either Friday and/or Saturday evening for buffet dinner and entertainment, we ask that you let us know, as laid out below.
Once the hotel is full, we will offer the buffet dinner on a first come first served basis. Please register your interest now on the attached booking form. No payment is required at this stage. Registering will not guarantee you a place, as our priority is for those who are weekend residents. We will of course let you know whether a place has been reserved for you well in advance of the National and you will be required to pay at that point, this will be no later than 1st July.
The cost of dinner and the evening entertainment will be £45 per person per night.
Other Information:
As the whole event package has been so popular, it will not be possible to provide one night stays or stays on the Thursday or Sunday evenings at the Event Centre. However, alternative accommodation is available, either at the Drift Inn (https://www.wybostonlakes.co.uk/drift-inn.aspx) which is within easy walking distance on the same estate, or just over the road at the Premier Inn. You will need to book these yourself directly.
