Sunbeam Alpine Series lll
March 1963 Series III Sports & GT introduced
1592cc engine. As for Series II but with the following changes: Bonnet badge in plastic instead of enamel, number plate no longer hinged, fixed quarter lights on doors door glass shape altered. Series III badges below Alpine script on wings, oval vent holes in road wheels, change in hubcap design, petrol filler cap higher up rear wing. New design hardtop fitted, changes in instrumentation, “Day Glo” points. Wire sprung steering with different horn ring, front seats of new shape – side bolsters and reclining. Twin petrol tanks. Spare wheel now vertical in boot.
Sports Tourer.
Supplied with soft-top, hardtop as an option but only in black. Dashboard black finish, black plastic rimmed steering wheel.
GT Version.
Now available. Hardtop only, in body colour. No soft-top or provision for one. Slight increase in rear seat space with cushion, walnut veneered dash and wood rimmed steering wheel. Carpeted floor, heater, sun visors, courtesy light, door panels altered, trimmed to window height with stitched horizontal lines decorating door and rear panels.

We don’t know how many C. K. D. (Complete Knocked Down) kits were exported for assembly at Rootes various plants abroad but the various chassis numbers start as follows.
Series III B925……..
Note. If the chassis number (found on the scuttle) and the engine number (found on the ledge under the front spark plug) are identical, then the engine is the original.
